Our Breeding Program

The deeper into the pedigree that dogs are certified free of health issues, the better!

Our breeding's are thoughtfully planned to ensure correct temperament, type, soundness, trainability and ensure that they produce puppies that are well rounded and become valued family members ready for the field as a hunting companion, competition field and hunt test and being a valued member of the family. Our Breeding program will be based on these fundamentals:

• To make a better dog with the proper mating in looks, health clearances, training ability, and behavior, while keeping temperament as a high priority.
• To breed for intelligence, trainability, physical soundness and having natural marking ability for for hunting, field trials, companions, agility, therapy, obedience or any game you want them to play.
• Our puppies have a good all around attitude that can do work and then come back home to be a valued member of the family.

• Our breeding's are planned with the research of pedigrees and we choose the stud dog who will best compliment our girl.  

• Every litter is planned with a goal and purpose months or years in advance with the intention of keeping a puppy or puppies to continue our lines and build on our program.

 
For the Puppies:

• Find the correct placement of the dog into the proper environment.
• We want our puppies to become valued members of their families so they are well socialized before going to their new homes.

We are proud to be an Avidog Associate Breeder and a Member of the AKC Bred with H.E.A.R.T. program.

Avidog Associate Breeders are responsible breeders who have publicly committed to raising their puppies the Avidog Way. This means that we have educated ourselves about both cutting-edge and tried-and-true methods to produce puppies that mature into physically healthy, mentally stable dogs. And then we use those methods with every pup in every litter!

What does this mean to you as a puppy buyer?
When you choose to get a puppy from an Avidog Associate Breeder you know you have chosen someone who has agreed that they will:

• Focus on making each and every puppy the best it can be, whether it will be a competition dog, working dog or a family pet.
• Carefully select their puppies’ parents, focusing heavily on the mom and dad’s health and temperament
• Take special care of their dog moms prior to and during pregnancy to help their kids handle stress better, by:
  • providing optimal nutrition
  • keeping them in excellent physical condition
  • providing enrichment to their daily lives
  • limiting their stress
• Provide neonatal care that will set the foundation for their puppies’ lifetime health and temperament
• Create an enriching environment for their pups, from 3 weeks of age until they go home, in order to develop their brains and bodies
• Intensely socialize their pups, being sure they meet a minimum of 50 different people before they go to their new homes
• Create developmental opportunities for their puppies that will set them up for a lifetime of engagement with people

The Bred with H.E.A.R.T. program engages and educates breeders on best practices, including health testing.

As member of the AKC Bred with H.E.A.R.T program we have made the century long-commitment to advance the health and welfare of all dogs and uphold the following principles: 

• HEALTH: You certify that your breeding stock is health tested in accordance with the recommendations of their breed’s AKC Breed Parent Club. Visit our Health Testing Requirements page to see the requirements for your breed(s).
• EDUCATION: Promising that you will pursue AKC-provided or AKC-approved continuing breeder education so that you stay educated on the best breeding practices, including advances in canine health.
• ACCOUNTABILITY: Agreeing to comply with the AKC Care and Conditions Policy, including inspections by the AKC, and promising to share health testing and continuing education documentation with AKC.
• RESPONSIBILITY: Accepting responsibility for the health and well-being of the puppies you produce and for complying with all laws regarding the ownership and maintenance of dogs.
• TRADITION: Upholding the AKC’s tradition of breeding purebred dogs that are happy and healthy.
